MARRIAGE  LICENSE  INFORMATION

Hours of operation:  Monday - Friday from 8:30 - 4:30, excluding  holidays.  Ceremonies are performed UNTIL  3:30 p.m.

Florida Applicants must read the Family Law Handbook.

There is a required three (3) day waiting period for all Florida residents.  You will receive your Marriage license at the time of application.  However, you must wait three (3) days before you can use it to marry.

Marriage License information & applications can be obtained in the Marriage & Passport Division of the Clerk of Circuit Court.   The application form can be downloaded via the following link:   Marriage Application Form  Both applicants must be 18 years of older, apply in person and must bring a valid drivers license, passport or State I.D. card.  Social Security numbers are required.  If you have been divorced within the past six (6) months, you must show proof of Final Judgment.

If I don't have a Social Security number, can I still get a Marriage License?

Yes, but you must have a valid passport from your country of citizenship.

What is the Fee for a Marriage License and Ceremony?

The fee for a marriage license is $97.50.   The cost for performing the ceremony is $30.00.  Personal checks are not accepted.

If I take a counseling course, can I get a discount?

Yes.  The course must be at least four (4) hours, and the counselor must be a registered provider to qualify for the discount.  You may contact the Clerk's office for a list of providers.  The discount is $32.50.

If I am not a Florida resident, do I qualify for the discount?

No.  You must be a Florida resident with Florida identification.

Are Blood Tests required in the State of Florida?

No. The law requiring this test was abolished in October, 1986.

How Long does it Take to Get a Marriage License and How Long is it Valid?

You will receive the license on the same day that you apply.  It will be valid for sixty (60) days.  However, if you are a Florida resident, you must wait three days before you can use it.  The license must be used only in the State of Florida.  It  must be returned within ten (10) days to the county in which it was issued to get recorded.

Who May Perform Marriage Ceremonies?

All regularly ordained ministers or other ordained clergy; Elders in communion with some churches; All judicial officers (Judges) of the State of Florida; Clerk’s of Circuit Court and their deputies of the State of Florida; a Notary Public of this state; and persons called "Quakers" or "Friends" in the manner and form used or practiced in their societies.

Can an Individual Younger than 16 get a Marriage License?

No license to marry shall be granted to any person under the age of 16, with or without the consent of the parents.
